Author Guidelines

Publication Limitations
Within a single issue, no more than two papers may be published by the same author: one as a principal author and another as a co-author, or both as co-author. JEES operates double-blind peer review with editorial screening; submission and external review do not imply acceptance.

Plagiarism and Similarity Check
The corresponding author must ensure the manuscript is free from plagiarism and inappropriate similarity. All submissions are screened via iThenticate/Turnitin; the overall similarity must be below 10% and the similarity from any single source no more than 3%, with proper attribution for all borrowed content. Manuscripts exceeding thresholds may be rejected outright or conditionally considered at the Editorial Board’s discretion.

Research Ethics and ORCID iD
Authors must follow international research ethics across study design, data collection, writing, and publication; studies involving human participants or data must provide ethics approval and informed consent details. All authors are required to provide a valid ORCID iD at submission; ORCID iDs are embedded in article metadata.

Author Information and Manuscript Structure
Complete affiliation details for all authors are required at submission. Prepare two separate files: a Title Page containing title, author names and affiliations, CRediT contributions, data/code availability statement, ethics and consent information, acknowledgements and funding, and conflicts of interest; and an anonymous Main Document with no identifying information to ensure double-blind review. The final published article will display the corresponding author’s institutional and personal e-mail addresses and the ORCID iDs of all authors.

Manuscript Length Requirements
Quantitative studies ordinarily ≥ 6,000 words including references; qualitative or mixed-methods studies 8,000–12,000 words including references. Exceptions for methods/tool notes or registered reports may be considered with justification in the cover letter.

Language and Formatting
Professional English editing (preferably native-level) is recommended prior to submission. Referencing and citations must follow APA (latest edition) with consistent in-text citations and reference list. Authors should reflect on citation practices, citing globally recognized work and, where appropriate, leading scholarship from the study’s region. JEES reserves the right to edit, modify, add, or remove content at any stage, or request that the corresponding author do so, to maintain scholarly and production quality.

Submission and Formatting Requirements
Manuscripts must be submitted by one of the authors via the online system in MS Word format; submissions by non-authors are not accepted. Use single spacing and 11-point font; place figures, tables, and illustrations within the text at appropriate points rather than at the end. The manuscript must be original and not submitted or under review elsewhere.

Conflict of Interest and Withdrawal Policy
The corresponding author must ensure there are no undisclosed conflicts of interest among co-authors and must fully disclose financial and non-financial interests related to funding or the research context on the title page. Once a manuscript has entered external peer review, it cannot be withdrawn; while under review at JEES, it must not be submitted elsewhere unless officially rejected.

Peer Review and Publication Rights
Submission for editorial or peer review does not guarantee acceptance. An acceptance letter is issued only after completion of double-blind peer review and approval by the Editorial Committee. Authors grant JEES non-exclusive rights to circulate the manuscript and essential derivative versions (e.g., translations); copyright and open-licensing follow the journal’s Open Access policy (CC BY 4.0).

Submission Process
Authors must register and log in to the online submission portal and submit in MS Word. A signed author agreement must accompany the submission, confirming compliance with all JEES requirements, including similarity thresholds, ethical approvals and consent where applicable, ORCID provision, data/code availability, conflict-of-interest disclosure, and (where applicable) a declaration of generative AI use. The Editorial Office may request additional documentation or corrections during technical and compliance checks.
