Repository Policy
General Statement and License
JEES is a fully Open Access journal. All published articles are distributed under CC BY 4.0. Authors are encouraged to disseminate and preserve their work without access barriers, provided that proper attribution to the original publication is maintained.
Permitted Versions and Timing
JEES recognizes three scholarly versions: the preprint, the Author Accepted Manuscript (AAM), and the Version of Record (VoR). Preprints may be posted on reputable subject repositories or institutional repositories before submission or during peer review; authors must disclose any preprint at submission, and—so as not to compromise double-blind review—should avoid promotional updates that reveal review status. The AAM may be deposited upon acceptance and linked to the DOI of the final article once available. The VoR (publisher PDF) may be deposited immediately on publication (no embargo) in institutional repositories and personal sites.
Attribution, Linking, and Rights Statements
For any deposited version, the repository entry must display the complete JEES citation and the article DOI link, together with the rights statement “© Authors. CC BY 4.0.” If third-party content is included under different terms, authors should indicate any restrictions or provide permissions when depositing.
Platforms and Compliance
Authors may deposit the AAM or VoR in institutional repositories, subject repositories, and personal academic pages. To enhance interoperability, repository metadata should include ORCID iDs, funding information, and links to open data/code resources. Articles are published on OJS with Crossref DOIs, and the journal’s content is preserved via the PKP Preservation Network (PN) in alignment with the journal’s Archiving Policy.
Data, Code, and Supplementary Materials
JEES encourages depositing shareable datasets, analysis code, and supplementary materials in trusted open or controlled-access repositories (preferably with DOIs/persistent identifiers) and interlinking them with the article and repository records, with appropriate licenses and terms of use.
Maximizing Visibility and Impact
To improve discoverability and citations, authors should link any AAM repository entry to the Version of Record DOI, making version provenance clear. ORCID integration is recommended to consolidate outputs and track citations, downloads, and altmetrics.
Retractions and Takedowns
Where legal, ethical, or copyright issues necessitate correction or retraction, JEES will update the record in accordance with COPE guidance. If a repository takedown is required, authors should retain links and explanatory notes pointing to the journal’s official version to preserve the integrity and traceability of the scholarly record.
